From the Principal

It has been a very busy year- I cannot believe another year has passed us by! As always, we have had a very hectic couple of weeks and I am sure everyone is looking forward to the holiday season.

Reece High Awards

It was great to hear that a number of students previously from Hillcrest were recognised for their achievements at the Reece High School Final Assembly. Well done to Jye, Seche, Danielle, Chaz, Bridie, Monique, Caiden, Jonty, Callum, Jasper, Casey and Dakoda who all received recognition.

Children’s University

I was fortunate to be involved in the Children’s University graduation held at the Paranaple Centre in September. Congratulations go to all who took part. Fifteen Hillcrest students graduated this year and I look forward to seeing even more students graduating next year. An information session will be held early in 2020 for any students interested, in grades 2-6.

Welcomes and Farewells

We will have a few staff changes going into 2020.

Mick Purton will be working at Ashley School in 2020. Mick has worked at Hillcrest in a variety of roles since last year. I wish Mick all the best for the move to his new school. Good luck, Mick!

Farewell also to Bec Moore, who has worked as a Teacher Assistant this year in Kinder. Thankyou Bec for your hard work and dedication to the students in your care. We wish you all the best in the future.

We would also like to say farewell to Melissa Sutherland, who has worked as an IT trainee this year. Mel will be working at Reece next year and I would like to say thank you to her for her support with staff and students.

It is also a sad goodbye to our grade 6 students and families that are leaving at the end of this year. I wish you all the best for your futures and look forward to hearing about the great things happening for you.

Hilly Kids Are Friendly Kids

We have had a great year and now it is time to celebrate and look forward to next year. The last weeks of school have presented us with many opportunities to celebrate. There have been class parties, excursions, fun, games, the concert, the parade and the end of year assembly. Thanks for joining in on all the celebrations. We hope you enjoyed yourselves! Well done to all.

Our final Hilly Kid for 2019 for “Good Winners/Good Losers” was Myha from 4-5K. Congratulations, Myha, and well done to our other class representatives.

Hillcrest Primary School Association

The Hillcrest Primary School Association has had another great year of fundraising. The fundraising enables us to provide valuable resources for classrooms, fund programs for students and upgrade the playgrounds and equipment. Along the way we get our families and school community together, organise, participate, share, communicate and, most of all, have fun!

A big thankyou to everyone who took time to help out at the Father’s Day and Mother’s Day stalls and pack orders on Pie Drive delivery day.

A big thankyou to everyone who donated items for our fundraising, bought and sold raffle tickets, took orders for the Pie Drive, ordered calendars, visited our Family Market, collected sponsors for the Walkathon, saved up 5¢ coins for the coin drive and, despite the weather, came along to our Fair.

The school office will close at 4pm on Friday, December 20th and re-open on Tuesday, January 21st. Please do not come in to collect books or buy uniforms, etc until January 28/29. Book collection/levy payments and uniform sales will take place January 28th & 29th strictly from 9am -2pm in the school office. You can pay your levies and uniform by cash, cheque or eftpos. Some secondhand uniform may be cash only.

Secondhand Uniform

If you have any second hand uniform items in good shape that you won’t be needing, please consider either donating it to the school or bringing it in for us to sell on your behalf. We always have families looking for second hand uniforms!

Lost and Found

There are a number of items in our lost and found basket in the office. At the end of the year any school uniform left in the basket will be washed and put into our secondhand uniform cupboard for sale. Any other items will be donated to an op shop if not claimed by 4pm this Friday.

Remember to add ‘Department of Education’ as an employer (even though you are only getting a volunteer card) and choose Hillcrest Primary School from the drop down list.

Remember: if you wish to attend a class excursion with your child/ren or help in the class in any way, you are required to have one this card.
