From the Principal
As the mornings become chillier, it is timely to remind families to send their child to school in warm clothing. We encourage all students to dress in clothing that is suitable for the weather. We have an excellent uniform display in the foyer of our administration building, detailing our winter uniform. If you require any items of winter uniform, we have plenty for sale, including second-hand items.
Mid-Year Reporting
3-way conference booking letters were sent home this week. 3-way conferences are an important time for students, families and teachers to meet to discuss progress, as well as plan for future learning. We would appreciate catching up with all families, so don’t forget to send your preferred times back to the office. 3-way conferences will be held in the week beginning 28th June. Families of Kinder students will also be meeting during the next few weeks.
Student reports will be sent home on Friday, 25th June. Please spend the time to go through the report with your child. If you have any questions regarding your child’s report, feel free to discuss with your child’s teacher.
School Association Committee
Our School Association Committee recently held our AGM. I would like to congratulate our continuing members, as well as welcoming some new faces. If you are interested in finding out more about the work of the Association, please feel free to contact the school.

Hilly Kids Are Friendly Kids
Collaboration
Being collaborative is one of the most sought-after skills in our workforces and society. When we collaborate, we think and talk about our thoughts and feelings with others. This helps each of us to view things from a different perspective. When learning to be a good collaborator we need to develop the skills of taking turns, sharing the roles, sharing materials and respectfully listening to and challenging others’ thinking. When we effectively collaborate, we can achieve much greater success as a team.
Our Hilly Kid for the ‘Negotiating’ topic was Joshua from 4-5P. Congratulations, Joshua!

Term 2 Fundraising and events
This term we are focusing our fundraising and events around our school value of ‘Growth’. We were so impressed with the effort of our families and students to come dressed up as who they want to be when they grow up to raise funds for some new books for our Library. We are pleased to say we raised $194, which will allow us to purchase some lovely fresh books to help our learners grow.
Our next event will be...HILLY’S GOT TALENT!
We would like to let you know that as a part of our focus on the value ‘Growth’ this term, we are going to be running HILLY’S GOT TALENT.

Our classroom has been very busy over the last few weeks. Firstly, we enjoyed listening to the story ‘Give me Some Space!’ By Philip Bunting. We were impressed with NASA Astronaut Dr. Shannon Walker reading it from the International Space Station. We were so inspired that we made our own 3D art creations. Our space people also float around in space.

On Thursday 20th May Paul, who plays basketball for NW Thunder, taught us some of his amazing basketball skills. We learnt how to dribble the basketball with both hands, how to cross over, defend our ball and shoot.

varieties.
SWAP big bowls for small bowls when eating
occasional treats like ice cream.
SWAP high-sugar, low fibre breakfast cereals for
one that is high in grains and fibre.
SWAP a fruit bar for fresh fruit.
